Introduction

Niedbała (2000) referred to this species as both Notophthiracarus longisetus (in three places) and Notophthiracarus longisetosus (in three places). He also used both spellings in later publications. The original description is headed Notophthiracarus longisetus, so I interpret Notophthiracarus longisetosus as a spelling error.
