Genus Notocrypta de Nicéville, 1889

On new and little-known butterflies from the Indian region, with a revision of the genus Plesioneura of Felder and of authors. Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society 4(3): 187–194 (188) considered Plesioneura C. & R. Felder, 1862 to be a junior homonym of Plesionevra Macquart, 1855 (Diptera) and consequently introduced the new replacement name Notocrypta de Nicéville, 1889, but International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature 1985. International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, Third Edition, adopted by the XX General Assembly of the International Union of Biological Sciences. London : International trust for Zoological Nomenclature 338 pp. Art. 56(b) stated that two genus-group names are not homonyms if there is only a one-letter difference between them; Edwards, E.D., Newland, J. & Regan, L. 2001. Lepidoptera: Hesperioidea, Papilionoidea. In Wells, A. & Houston, W.W.K. Zoological Catalogue of Australia. Vol. 31.6. Melbourne : CSIRO Publishing, Australia. x 615 pp. as the spelling of Plesionevra Macquart, 1855 (Diptera) has not been emended, and in order to maintain stability in the use of these names, we here follow de Nicéville's decision pending a case to be made to the ICZN on the relative priority of Plesioneura C. & R.
