BIOLOGY
Beardsley, J.W. 1966. Insects of Micronesia. Homoptera: Coccoidea. Insects of Micronesia 6: 377–562 reports that the host of this species is unknown since his specimens were all collected using Berlese funnel traps from ground litter. This species has been found in decaying vegetable matter, which leads him to speculate that this is a root feeding insect.
STRUCTURE
Adult female is close to the generic type species in shape, size and dorsal spine cluster pattern. It differs in respect to long flagellate setae on antennae and legs in contrast to the short, normally spine-like setae with acute apices found in N. ardisiae (see Morrison, H. 1952. Classification of the Ortheziidae. Supplement to Classification of scale insects of the subfamily Ortheziinae. United States Department of Agriculture Technical Bulletin 1052: 1–80).
