Neopsephotus Mathews, G.M. 1912. A Reference-List to the Birds of Australia. Novitates Zoologicae 18: 171-455 [Date published 31 Jan 1912] [279] [proposed conditionally and published without description but based by reference on Euphema bourkii Gould, 1841 and available under ICZN Arts 15 and 12(b)(5) respectively; typification quoted as 'original designation' by Peters, J.L. 1937. Check-list of Birds of the World. Cambridge : Harvard University Press Vol. 3 xiii 311 pp., but Mathews did not specify Euphema bourkii Gould, 1841 as type species in the protologue].
