Family NEOCYTHERIDEIDIDAE Puri, 1957

Introduction

Neocytherideidae include the genera Neocytherideis Puri, 1952, Sahnia Puri, 1952 and Copytus Skogsberg, 1939.

 

Diagnosis

Valves elongate and thin walled. Sculpture weak, pits and ribs seldom present. Inner lamella at least along anterior margin distinctly separated from line of concrescence, always separated (by small distance) also at posterior end. Marginal pore canals scarce, simple and long. Hinge rectodont to desmodont. Antennula 5-segmented. Antenna with 2 or 3 terminal claws. Second and third segment of mandibular palp very long, and armed with long comb-like haired bristles. Respiratory plate of mandibula with one main and 3 secondary setae. Palp of maxillula broader than 2 or all 3 endites of maxillula.
