Introduction
This is a small subfamily comprising only a few species in two genera, Meteoridea which is widely distributed and Pronkia which is known only from New Zealand. The subfamily can be recognised by the quadrangular second submarginal cell in the fore wing and the posterior two-thirds of the metasoma being laterally compressed. Only one species of Meteoridea is known from Australia. Biological information indicates that members of this subfamily are larval-pupal endoparasitoids of Lepidoptera, i.e. they oviposit into larvae and emerge from the pupae.
