Kosztarab, M. & Kennedy, A.D. 1971. Megacoccus tasmaniensis, a new genus and species of scale insect (Homoptera: Coccoidea: Eriococcidae). Annals of the Entomological Society of America 64: 343–346 state that "there is no genus within the Coccoidea which seems to be closely related to Megacoccus."
