Introduction

Ślipiński & Escalona (2013: 252) listed two non-Australian genera, Aerenicopsis and Mecas, species of each having been introduced into Australia for biocontrol, but which have not established. "Aerenicopis championi Bates from the Neotropical Region was introduced experimentally to Southern Queensland for the control of Lantana camara" and "Mecas saturnina (Leconte) from Texas (USA) was introduced to Queensland in 1964–1965 for the control of Noogoora Burr (Xanthium strumarium) but …failed to establish".
