Introduction

Scagacola degenerata can be distinguished from S. subcavernula by having a smaller, subglobose shell with very degenerate sculpture and narrower umbilicus.

Ecological Descriptors

Dry vine thickets, under logs, under rocks.

 

Diagnosis

Shell small to medium-sized; yellow, subdiscoidal to globose with a domed spire; protoconch smooth apart from some oblique striations at the end, teleoconch with very weak radial ribs prominent at the suture, prominent spiral striae and irregular oblique striations; umbilicus narrow V-shaped; diameter 14.5mm.
