Extra Distribution Information

East coast and adjacent ranges north to about Cooktown and Battle Camp Range, south to Mackenzie-Dawson-Fitzroy Rivers basin, and inland to coast scarps of Great Dividing Range, mainly at higher elevations above 300 m N of 20ºS; probably integrades with M. a. quinkan Schodde, 1989 in pockets around Princess Charlotte Bay and with M. a. phasianella (Temminck, 1821) through Mackenzie-Dawson-Fitzroy basin.

Ecological Descriptors

Arboreal, closed forest, diurnal, frugivorous, granivore, gregarious, nomadic, tall forest, volant.

Extra Ecological Information

Randomly dispersed, seasonal breeder/opportunistic breeder, sexually dimorphic, feeds mainly arboreally on fruit and seeds in and particularly on edges of rainforest and vine scrub and mesophyll forest galleries in eucalypt forest, nests in trees and tall bushes, wanders locally to seasonal flushes of food.
