Subspecies Macropus fuliginosus melanops Gould, 1842

    Type data:
     Holotype BMNH 42.5.26.2 skin (according to the holotype skin label; it is very like M. fuliginosus specimens from southern SA and SA is probably the real type locality), 'Port Essington'.
