Introduction
This subfamily comprises mostly medium to large braconids that can be distinguished from all other members of the family by the presence of small teeth on the trochantellus of the legs and absence of an occipital carina.
They are worldwide in distribution. Most described species are placed in the large genus Macrocentrus, to which the four recorded Australian species belong, although numerous undescribed taxa are known.
Members of this subfamily are endoparasitoids of lepidopteran larvae, with several having been used as biological control agents.
