Ecological Descriptors
Adult: volant.
Larva: aquatic, predator.
Extra Ecological Information
Adult rarely bites humans and feed on fowl and kangaroos; adults caught in animal-baited and dry-ice baited traps; larva found in permanent and semi-permanent water collections with green filamentous algae such as ground, transient and jungle pools, sago swamps, rock crevices, rock pools, log holes, tree holes, ruts, water butts, ponded streams and artificial containers such as gutters, septic tanks, horse troughs, irrigation wells and drains; larvae are predacious on mosquito larvae and other invertebrates and cannibalistic.
