Introduction
Previously thought to be a widespread species throughout central Australia however Eastwood et al. (2020) presented evidence supporting earlier observations that the previous definition of L. stenodactylus included two other species. They used morphological and molecular analysis to identify three separate lineages, one from the Pilbara region of WA to which they applied the name Lucasium woodwardi (Fry 1914), a new species Lucasium microplax mostly recorded from SA, and L. stenodactylus which was found to be restricted to northern and western WA and the NT.

Mostly in the Kimberley region and western deserts of WA but extending to the eastern Pilbara and south to Meekathara, and widespread in the NT
