Introduction
Denzer & Manthey (2016) review the available GenBank sequences referred to members of the genus Hypsilurus and recalibrate a phylogenetic analysis which shows a paraphyly in the genus.
Therefore the genus Lophosaurus Fitzinger is resurrected to include the two Australian forest dragons boydii and spinipes, as well as the New Guinean type species dilophus.
