Ecological Descriptors

Adult: predator, terrestrial.

 

Diagnosis

Length 2.1-2.5 mm. Body with setae dense and short, lacking distinctly long setae; setae subdecumbent to suberect on head and pronotum, decumbent on elytra and abdomen. Head bluntly triangular; with broad indentation at base, vertexal foveae near anterior margin of indentation; elongate frontal sulcus deep, frontal bridge broad; antennomeres VI-X strongly transverse; gula gently and transversely rounded. Pronotum with triangular median antebasal impression shallow, as long as wide; antebasal sulcus angularly bisinuate, distinct between lateral antebasal foveae; basolateral foveae in sulcus; lateral longitudinal sulci distinct; lateral pronotal margins broadly rounded. Each elytron with three basal foveae; discal foveae weak, usually with one each posterior to first and third basal foveae; discal stria extending past elytral midpoint; with faint subhumeral fovea, broad longitudinal sulcus extending posteriorly from subhumeral fovea distinct. Abdomen with visible tergite 1 (IV) variably exposed, nearly as long as 2 (V), when elytra covering posteriorly to transverse line of dense short setae then appearing about half length of 2 (V); 2 (V) slightly shorter than 3 (VI); 4 (VII) longest, slightly longer than 3 (VI). Male eyes with about 60 facets; penial plate (sternite IX) large and oval; lacking other male modifications. Female eyes with about 50 facets; visible sternite 6 (VIII) deflexed in apical half.
