Family LOHMANNIIDAE Berlese, 1916

Introduction
The family Lohmanniidae is large, with 25 genera and more than 200 species world-wide (Schatz et al. 2011; Subias 2011). The family is most diverse in tropical climates, where its members feed on decomposing plant material (Norton & Behan-Pelletier 2009). The most extensive recent taxonomic work on the family was by Balogh & Balogh (1987). The Australian fauna includes one identified species in each of three genera, and records of unidentified species in a further three genera. Unidentified Lohmanniidae were also reported by Harvey et al. (1993), Longstaff et al. (1999) and Walter & Stirling (2018).
