Family LISTROPHORIDAE Mégnin & Trouessart, 1884
Introduction
The family Listrophoridae includes 21 genera and over 150 species world-wide, all of which are parasites in the hair of mammalian hosts (OConnor 2009). The world fauna was reviewed by Bochkov (2010). The Australian fauna consists of only two species, both found on introduced hosts (hare, rabbit, cat) (Domrow 1992). Listrophoridae have not been found on any species of Australian native mammal. Derrick et al. (1939), reported an unidentified species of Listrophoridae on a bandicoot, but that record has not been confirmed.
