Introduction
The family Laetmogonidae is cosmopolitan with five known genera. Two genera and six species occur in Australia.
This family is distinguished from other holothurian families in the order Elasipodida by the following combination of character states: body more or less cylindrical; ventrolateral radii each with well developed pedicles; midventral radius naked or with small pedicels; dorsal processes elongate, flexible; ossicles include wheels, often with rods or spinous crosses.
