Species Isotoma swani Womersley, 1934
- Isotoma swani Womersley, H. 1934. A preliminary account of the Collembola-Arthropleona of Australia. Part II Superfamily Entomobryoidea. Transactions of the Royal Society of South Australia 58: 86-138 [101] [Womersley listed 'holotype and allotype' in his original description and stated that the types were in the SAMA; it is clear from the description that he had both the male and a female before him when describing the species and he mentions no other material; the SAMA collection contains two specimens of this species on the same slide labelled: 'types a & b' on one label, and 'Isotoma swani n.sp. & Nat. Pk. WA 3.9.31 DCS det. H. Womersley' on another label; there is no indication of whether the male or female is the holotype; the female is here selected as the holotype and the male as the paratype; both specimens possess short, smooth spines in a single row on the dens, a character not mentioned by Womersley and in this and other respects they resemble a species of Setocerura Salmon, 1949, see Greenslade, Penelope 1989. Genera of Isotomidae with spined dentes from southern regions. pp. 107–118 in Dallai, R. (ed). Third International Seminar on Apterygota. Sienna : University of Sienna; Australotoma Bagnall, 1949 therefore may be a senior subjective synonym of Setocerura Salmon, 1949].
