Introduction

This is a small subfamily comprising mostly small to medium sized braconids. They are diagnosed by possessing small spines at the apex of the fore tibia, while members of Oligoneurus and Paraoligoneurus (tribe Muesebeckiini) have reduced wing venation.

The group appears to be absent from Australia with the exception of a number of species in Paraoligoneurus, one of which has been described. The reason for this is that the majority of genera are parasitoids of sawflies, which are depauperate in Australia, while members of the Muesebeckiini are endoparasitoids of leaf-mining Lepidoptera.
