Syntype(s) (Parsons (1998) indicated that a syntype male was from Kiriwina Island, Papua New Guinea.), Kiriwina Island, PNG.

Introduction
Meyer et al. (2022) recorded this species from mainland Australia for the first time, based on a single male collected from Iron Range, Cape York Peninsula, QLD on 6 April 2021. The specimen was provisionally assigned to subspecies H. antilope mela Fruhstorfer, 1903, which occurs widely on mainland New Guinea and its adjacent eastern islands. Within Australian limits the species was previously known only from the northern Torres Strait islands.
