Introduction

This is a small subfamily comprising a single genus, Histeromerus, which can be recognised by the elongate, tapering basal hind tarsal segment, cyclostome mouth, spherical head and smooth body.

Only a few species have been described worldwide and only one from Australia. Biological information is available for only one non-Australian species that is a solitary ectoparasitoid of beetle larvae.
