Genus Hexaplex Perry, 1810

  • Hexaplex Perry, G. 1810. Arcana; or The Museum of Natural History: containing the most recent discovered objects. London : George Smeeton 84 pls, 251 (unnumbered). [sgn. M7] [Made available by short diagnosis; no originally included species. Exaplex [FĂ©russac, 1820, Journal de Physique, de Chimie, d'Histoire Naturelle et des Arts, 90: 284] is an incorrect subsequent spelling. Earlier than Iredale, Jousseaume, 1879, Revue et Magasin de Zoologie, (1879): 349, had designated Murex cichoreus Gmelin as type species, but this nominal species was not included by Perry (1811)].
    Type species:
     Hexaplex foliacea Perry, 1811 by subsequent designation (Iredale, 1915, Transactions of the New Zealand Institute, 47: 469).
  • Bassiella Wenz, 1941 [Handbuch der Paläozoologie, 6(1): 1089; Established as a substitute name for Bassia Jousseaume, 1880, non Quoy & Gaimard, 1834].
    Type species:
     Murex stainforthi Reeve, 1843 by original designation (by typification of replaced name).
