Diagnosis

In lateral view subrectangular to subtriangular, in dorsal view valves considerably laterally depressed. Anterior end oblique and almost straight in upper part, acutely rounded in ventral half. Posterior end generally with pronounced subcentral to subdorsal caudal process. Surface covered with reticulation of coarse pits. Prominent ventral ridge also present. Inner lamella wide anteriorly. Marginal pore canals characteristically arranged in groups of 3 or 4 long pore-canals. All pore-canals simple. Hinge merodont/entomodont.
