Diagnosis
Exclusively vasiform, plate-like or flattened branching growth forms; choanosomal and peripheral skeletons are loosely arranged more-or-less plumo-reticulate, without apparent axial compression or differentiation between axial and extra-axial regions, composed of styles and/or oxeas without functional arrangement to any particular part of skeleton; ectosomal euasters typically with thick, acanthose, strongylote rays, sometimes calthrops-like (rays reduced to 2–4, curved, asymmetrical or branching rays), predominant in peripheral region but not forming a surface crust.
