Genus Harpa Röding, 1798

  • Harpa Röding, P.F. 1798. Museum Boltenianum sive Catalogus cimeliorum e tribus regnis naturae quae olim collegerat Joa. Hamburg : Trappii 199 pp. [Date published September 1798] [149] [Museum Boltenianum, 2: 149; Harpa Pallas, 1774, Spicilegia Zoologica, 1(10): 33, is listed as a separate entry in Nomenclator Zoologicus. Neither it, nor Harpa Walch, 1771 [as used by Wenz] was discussed in Opinion 1436, 1987, Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature 44(2): 137, which placed Harpa Röding, 1798 on the Official List. Harpa Pallas is based on an illustration depicting Trophon geversianus [Muricidae]. See also Harparia and Harpites].
    Type species:
     Buccinum harpa Linnaeus, 1758 by original designation (tautonymy).
