Ecological Descriptors

Marine, neritic, planktonic.

 

Diagnosis

Haplorhiza with umbrella flat orbicular with 48 marginal flaps (in each Octant 4 large square velar-flaps between 2 tongue-shaped projecting ocular-flaps), 8 arms quite simple, cylindrical, as long as the radius of the umbrella. Sub-genital ostia about as broad as the distance between them.

 

Notes

Originally described from the Bass Strait; not reported since.

Regarded valid by von Lendenfeld (1884d: 293); Mayer (1910: 713) regarded as unrecognizable juvenile; Kramp (1961) and Stiansy (1921) did not treat this species.
