Ecological Descriptors

Marine, neritic, planktonic.

 

Diagnosis

Haplorhiza with umbrella slightly vaulted with 176 marginal flaps (in each Octant 10 pair of narrow round velar flaps, between 2 small recurved ocular flaps), 8 arms quite simple, cylindrical, half as long as the radius of the Umbrella. Sub-genital-ostia 3 times as broad as the pillars. Colour : Exumbrella dark violet-brown, equally speckled with white spots.

 

Notes

Originally described from Arnhem Land, NT; not reported since.

Regarded valid by von Lendenfeld (1884d: 294); Mayer (1910: 713) regarded as a juvenile; Kramp (1961) and Stiansy (1921) did not treat the species.
