Introduction

Edwards (1961) recognised subgenera in Halipeurus and this arrangment was followed by Palma (1996: 184).

PHILOPTERIDAE: Halipeurus (Halipeurus) accentor Edwards, 1961 [recorded by Nelson (1969: 199) from Pterodroma nigripennis (Rothschild, 1893) is a misidentification (Palma in Palma & Barker, 1996)]

PHILOPTERIDAE: Halipeurus (Halipeurus) turtur Edwards, 1961 [recorded by Clay & Moreby (1970: 218) from Pachyptila desolata (Gmelin, 1789) is a misidentification of Halipeurus (Halipeurus) diversus (Kellogg, 1896), and is also a straggler or contaminant from a species of Puffinus (Palma in Palma & Barker, 1996)]
