Family HOMALOPSIDAE Jan, 1853
Introduction
Long regarded as a subfamily of Colubridae recent studies have demonstrated that the group is quite distinct from the colubrids and warrants recognition at the family level (see Lawson et al. 2005, Murphy, 2011, and Pyron et al. 2011).
