Type species:
Rhina cemiculus Hilaire, 1827 by subsequent designation, see Whitley, G.P. 1939. Taxonomic notes on sharks and rays. The Australian Zoologist 9(3): 227-262 figs 1-18 pls 20-22 [244] (type species designation often asttributed to Jordan & Evermann, 1896, but they only list the name rhinobatus in parentheses after the generic name and no authorship is attributed, and we follow Compagno et al. (2005) here).
