The Glyphiperigidae are distinctive, small, shining and usually day-active moths of which Australia has a rich fauna, mostly in moist temperate areas.

The world fauna was listed in Lepidopterorum Catalogus by Meyrick (1913b) and in Genera Insectorum by Meyrick (1914). World lists were also published by Heppner (1982, 1982). The Palaearctic Glyphipterigidae were comprehensively reviewed by Diakonoff (1986). Australian species were described by Meyrick (1880b, 1908) and Turner (1913) with a few descriptions in other scattered papers. There has been no thorough revision of Australian species.

All Australian species have been placed in widespread genera but all species are endemic. Nothing is known of the biology of any of the Australian species.

Heppner (2005) transfered Proditrix from Plutellidae to Glyphipterigidae.
