   Holotype BMNH 1886.12.15.238 dry (NMV photos 54/25–29 - egaz), Port Phillip Heads, VIC [38°07'S 144°48'E].
  Paratype(s) BMNH 1928.12.8.6 slides; BMNH 1954.2.12.279 slides; AM Z3866 (designation as neotype by Bergquist, P.R. 1980. A revision of the supraspecific classification of the orders Dictyoceratida, Dendroceratida and Verongida (Class Demospongiae). New Zealand Journal of Zoology 7: 443–503 figs 1–25 pls (474, figs 14d,e) is invalid).
