Introduction
Numerous subspecies named, many not accepted. Falco peregrinus submelanogenys Mathews, 1912 from SW Australia recognised as valid by some authors (e.g. del Hoyo & Collar, 2014) but not others (Dickinson & Remsen, 2013, Gill et al. 2020). We retain it as synonym of F. p. macropus until further work is conducted to verify its status.
