Adult: mellivore, volant.

Nest in dead, dry pithy stems (sword grass, Gahnia Forster & G.Forster [Cyperaceae], Juncus L. [Juncaceae]), flowering stalks (Xanthorrhoea Sm. [Xanthorrhoeaceae]), two or more adult females may be present in one nest, not all females lay eggs, all immature stages found in the communal chamber, larvae fed progressively, flower visiting record: Aotus Smith [Fabaceae], Arctotheca Wendl. [Asteraceae], Bursaria Cav. [Pittosporaceae], Epacris Cav. [Epacridaceae], Eucalyptus L'Hérit. [Myrtaceae], Melaleuca L. [Myrtaceae].
