Species Euwallacea fornicatus (Eichhoff, 1868)

Generic Combinations

Introduction

Considered to be a species complex, Gomez et al. (2018) recognised four clades within Euwallacea fornicatus. They removed two species from synonymy (Xyleborus fornicatior Eggers, 1923, and Xyleborus whitfordiodendrus Schedl, 1942) for two of these clades, retained E. fornicatus for a third (and the form present in Australia), and described a new species Euwallacea kuroshio Gomez and Hulcr, for the fourth. Only E. fornicatus is currently thought to be present in Australia.
