Introduction

The presence of this genus in Australia was in doubt until Fletcher (2008) transferred two Australian species into the genus. The previous Australian record was based on a single record of Ricania cyanescens [=Euricania discigutta (Walker)] published by Le Guillou (1841) who described hemipteran material collected during a circumnavigation of the globe. Material of this age from such voyages is notorious for mislabelling of localities and the Australian record of E. discigutta is regarded as being unconfirmed and the species omitted from this database.

Diagnosis

Nervus radialis und Nervus subradialis der Flügeldecken entspringen mit einem langen gemeinschaftlichen Stiele aus der Basalzelle, der Nervus subradialis bildet häufig nur ein kürze Brucke zum Nervus ulnaris ext. Längsnerve weit voneinander gerückt. Quernerven zahlreich zuweilen regelmässige Querlinien bilden. Costalmembran mit dicht stehenden Quernerven (Melichar 1898).
