Comment: Fabricius in the original description did not indicate the number of specimens described, he described this species from the illustration in Jones Icones; Waterhouse, G.A. 1936. [unpublished personal manuscript of observations made at the BMNH (Papilionidae, Pieridae, Danainae)]. Photocopy located at ANIC, Canberra, ACT. 29 pp. [29] (sex of the type); Waterhouse, G.A. 1938. Notes on Jones' Icones (Lepidoptera). With footnotes and appendix by Sir Edward B. Poulton. Proceedings of the Royal Entomological Society of London A 13(1–3): 9–17 [12] (discussed Donovan's figures and stated that a single specimen was the basis of Jones' figure).Type locality references:
