Tribe Eupariini
Introduction
The cosmopolitan Eupariini contains mostly saprophagous species (Rakovic 1987), although the biology of the Australian species is little known. Adults of Australian species have been taken in leaf litter, rotten logs, under rotten bark, in fungi and at light. Adults of the accidentally introduced Nearctic and Neotropical Ataenius picinus Harold, have been taken in fresh dung, although the larvae are unknown. Elsewhere, the larvae of some Ataenius have been shown to be humus feeders (Cartwright 1974).
