   Holotype ANIC(MMUS) ♀ (Waterhouse in the original description mentioned a type), King's Sound (probably) WA (Waterhouse gave N.W. Australia in original description)
  Comment: Waterhouse, G.A. 1938. Notes on Australian butterflies in the Australian Museum. No. 1. Rec. Aust. Mus. 20(3): 217–222 [220] (referred to a holotype and correctly determined the sex).

Generic Combinations

• Erina delospila (Waterhouse, 1903).

 

Introduction

Orr and Fliedner (2011) suggested that the correct spelling of the species is delospilus on the basis that the author intended the name delospila to be a feminine adjective.
Braby (2011) questions this interpretation because the author’s original intention is unknown and the second part of the name is derived from a Greek noun, meaning a spot. Being delospila a noun. it is used in apposition it should be therefore retained in its original form
