Introduction

This delightful little planthopper has been recorded from both sides of the continent. Moir et al. (2003) recorded it from Mirbelia dilatata R.Br. ex Dryand. (Fabaceae), Bossiaea aquifolium Benth. and three species of Acacia (all Fabaceae) as well as Hakea lissocarpha R.Br. (Proteaceae) in the jarrah forests of SW Western Australia.

Ecological Descriptors

All stages: phloem feeder.

 

Diagnosis

Head, pronotum and scutellum pale ferruginous; underside and the legs paler. Tegmina hyaline, veins blackish brown, pale ferruginous and whitish; costal cell (the transverse veins pale), basal half and a spot at apex of subcostal, basal cell, clavus, a long spot about the middle of the tegmina, apical margin broadly (except a small hyaline spot at the apex of some of the cells), and a narrow oblique band nearer to the apex than the middle, broadening and darkening costally, more or less dark smoky. Wings hyaline, marginally smoky. Abdomen basally black. Length: about 5½ mm. (Kirkaldy 1906).
