Family Deoterthridae Boxshall & Lincoln, 1987
Diagnosis
Tantulocarida. Rostrum absent. Cephalic shield with 10 pairs of pores (four anterior and six posterior); one pair of subdorsal pores posteriorly. Thoracopods with well developed rami. Leg one with two to three setae on exopod; endopod with one seta or absent. Legs two to five with two to five setae on exopod and two setae on endopod. Abdomen two-segmented, sometimes with surface lamellae. Trunk sac containing adult male formed posterior to thoracic tergite six. Male abdomen two-segmented; caudal rami well developed, cylindrical, with three setae. Copulatory stylet robust, curved, and with large apical opening; originating from first abdominal somite. Ectoparasitic on ostracods and harpacticoid copepods. (Huys, 1990)
