Family DREPANIDAE
Introduction
The Drepanidae are a small family. The subfamily Drepaninae is represented by four species in rainforest habitats in Australia.
The world literature was reviewed in Lepidopterorum Catalogus by Gaede (1931d) and the Indoaustralian fauna treated in Seitz's Macrolepidoptera of the World by Warren (1922-1924).
The Australian species were revised by Turner (1926c) and some genera present in Australia were surveyed by Watson (1957, 1967).
Distinct from the Drepaninae, the Hypsidia Rothschild group of species is endemic to Australia. These were reviewed by Scoble & Edwards (1988) but were not placed in any of the recognised subfamilies. Their biology is unknown.
