Type genus:
Dogielinotus Gurjanova, 1953.
Introduction
Serejo (2004) in her phylogenetic analysis of the talitridan amphipods significantly changed the subfamily and generic structure of the Dogielinotidae so that an originally regional group became world-wide. Currently only one genus, Allorchestes, is represented in Australian waters, but the possibility that Exhyalella occurs in tropical Australia cannot be discounted. Dogielinotids are algal-feeders often occurring in the lower intertidal. Robertson & Lucas (1983) has shown the importance of hyalids as macroalgal herbivores in Australian waters.
The family recovered as monophyletic in the molecular phylogeny of Cannizzaro & Berg (2022).
