Introduction
The dinoflagellates have unique mesokaryotic nuclei. (lacking histones, nucleosomes and chromosomes remain condensed during interphase). Most are free-living aquatic autotrophs (with chloroplasts), while some are parasitic heterotrophs of zooplankton, filamentous algae, crustaceans and fishes.
