Family DIAPEROECIIDAE Canu, 1918
Compiler and date details
July 2001 - Dr Philip Bock
Introduction
Canu (1918) defined the genus Diaperoecia, and the Family Diaperoeciidae, using Pustulopora intricaria Busk, 1875 as the type species. It is doubtful that Canu was studying specimens of this species, but was probably examining material from outside Australia that he had determined to be related. Subsequent work, e.g. Canu & Bassler (1920) has assigned numerous American and European fossil species to this genus. Since D. intricaria has not been re-evaluated since, the status of the family and the genus in relationship with other pustuloporid cyclostomes remains in doubt.
