Family DESMOPTERIDAE Chun, 1889
Introduction
Unlike other thecosomes, members of ths family do not have a shell, pseudoconch, proboscis or mantle cavity. Desmopterids are rare in Australian waters, and extremely small; total body length is less than 2 mm although the wingplate can reach 5 mm in diameter. Compiled from Beesley et. al. (1998).
