Diagnosis

Valves oblong-reniform in side view. Strong sexual dimorphism present. In both sexes anterior end broadly rounded, posterior end drawn out into weak caudal process situated about centrally or just above centre. Greatest width behind middle. Surface of carapace covered with regular network of raised lines, or surface smooth. Inner lamella narrow throughout and wholly fused with outer lamella. Line of concrescence running subparallel to outer margin. Selvage situated at short distance from outer margin, not very strongly developed. About 10–12 anterior pore-canals present, unbranched and most sinuous. Hinge merodont/entomodont. Normal pore canals few, small, scattered and open.
