Genus Cyprotides Tite, 1963

Introduction

Cyprotides was previously treated as monotypic, containing the single species Chrysophanus cyprotus Olliff. The genus was originally proposed by Tite (1963) to accommodate the species cyprotus previously placed in the genus Candalides. However, Braby et al. (2020) reinstated Cyprotides Tite as a monotypic genus. Subsequently, Braby (2023) raised Candalides cyprotus pallescens Tite, 1963, to species level, described an additional species from the subalpine region of SE Australia, and two additional subspecies in Cyprotides cyprotus from the arid and semi-arid region of southern Australia.
